The first offical event of the 2011 Summer Music Conservatory is upon us! The orientation sessions for the Middle School Choir and Middle School String Orchestra will be held Saturday, June 11 at Pershing Middle School. If you are an enrolled student, please check your enrollment packet for schedule and audition requirements. See you there!

For all prospective applicants or those have auditioned, but need to fill out an application: When filling out the online application, you may fill in random audition date choices. If you have already auditioned, that will show in our system. If you have not auditioned, please contact AFA for audition dates by appointment and/or to find out if a department is still open.

For all accepted students:

• You should have received your enrollment and tuition information via email. Contact AFA if you have not received it.
• Middle School Strings Students ONLY: Audition excerpts are now posted on the same web page as the enrollment materials for download
• Please be sure to return your materials by the due date listed on Page 1 of your enrollment packet.
• Car Pool lists will be posted by the end of the week

Please note that as of April 13, we will not be accepting any new clarinet or bassoon applications for the Orchestra & Chamber Music program.

Changes and Updates:

• The Regional Audition Date at Clear Lake Intermediate is Tuesday, April 5, 2011. It had previously been listed as April 26th on some parts of the web site.
• Please note that the audition requirements for Middle School String Orchestra applicants have been updated. Music choices and scales should demonstrate any shifting ability.

The application process is well underway for the 2011 Summer Music Conservatory, and the first auditions will be held in about two weeks! We will also be making visits to schools all over the Houston area soon, so if you would like an AFA representative to come to your school, please contact us or have your ensemble director contact us to schedule a visit.

Please also note that AFA's notification system is all paperless-all communication from AFA is via email, so please make sure you are able to receive our messages if you have applied for the summer.
